Ecuador: The Galapagos Islands Part 2

Part 2 from the Galapagos Islands – see part 1 for lots of animal photos. We spent four days (not long enough – definitely, definitely need more time in the Galapagos!) on board a smallish boat – the Yate Darwin. There’s room for 16 guests and I think about 5-6 crew, so it was pretty small. However, each cabin (though tiny) had its own itty bitty toilet and shower, so that was fine.

All meals were eaten on board the boat. We would get up in the morning, have breakfast, go ashore for a couple of hours, return to the boat for lunch, go snorkelling in the afternoon (well, I didn’t, but others did), return to the boat, have dinner and hang out until bed time. The boat mostly travelled between the different islands at night, so when we woke up in the morning we’d be in a different spot.

Breakfast was mostly different variations on eggs.

I like eggs. There was also bread and cheese.

And fruit – grapefruit, pineapple, and papaya (iiiiiick).

There was also cereal and yoghurt available, plus tea and coffee (concentrate).

Sometimes there was soup for lunch.

Or was it dinner?

There was more than soup, of course. Lunch was pretty similar to dinner. This was fried chicken, rice, cheesey asparagus, a mashed potato ball and salad.

Chicken, eggplant, some kind of stew (?), mushrooms, potato and rice.

Someone killed a banana for dessert, heh heh heh.

One day the Chef made us a snack – fried croquettes. Yay.

Like I said, dinner and lunches were pretty similar. Apparently I was feeling hungry on this evening because I loaded up my plate with fish and salad. 🙂

Ugh, I ate so much rice in South America.

Though I did try and eat my vegetables too. Yay broccoli!

After dinner we always had dessert – cake ahoy!

Tres leches cake – looks disgusting, tastes good.

On the last night there was a farewell cake. 🙂

Food was fine, though interestingly not as great as on the Inca Trail (who would’ve thought).
