The week in brief: 27 August – 2 September

This week’s post is short and sweet. But there is taco time x 2.

Wasn’t the sunshine this weekend fantastic? I made like a cat and plonked myself in the sun for a couple of hours today. Bliss.

Okay, food! There was a mid week dinner at Fonda with Hazzie and Gazman. Alastair and I shared a fish taco, a beef burrito and fries.

I thought the food was okay. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t amazing – I don’t know why people are so excited by it? It was a super fast meal – we entered, ordered, ate, and left in thirty minutes.

Hello, mid-week lunch! Pumpkin soup and a sandwich. The sandwich in particular was the shiz – a chorizo, cheese and relish toastie.

Yesterday we went to Newmarket Hotel for lunch with Maztech and Dazzle. I’ve had lunch there before, and just like my previous visit the food was fantastic. Naturally we had to have tacos to start – duck carnita and soft shell crab. Super delicious.

For mains, the boys had the burger, which was amazingtown. Maztech and I had pork ribs and beef brisket – our meal was good but I must admit I had slight burger envy. 😉

We ate so much that Alastair and I didn’t have dinner until 9.50pm. And for dinner we had… Shapes and a glass of wine. Gourmet!

As for Shapes, I have come to the realisation that I can never ever buy them because I have zero control when it comes to those freakishly addictive crunchy crackers. ARGH. No more! As soon as all the packets in our pantry are gone… uh oh.

Today’s breakfast was at Streat (formerly Social Roasting Company). I had chipotle spiced kidney beans with slices of pork belly, ahhh so good. Every breakfast should involve pork belly. When I rule the world, I will make it so.

And then I came home and baked an apple streusel cake. 🙂 Recipe to come.

It was a good weekend. And yours?
