Cookbook Challenge: Week 46, Cup
Recipe: Margarita
From: Marie Claire Food & Drink
The theme for the Cookbook Challenge this week is “cup” and I must admit that I have stretched the theme a bit.
My thinking went like this:
Cup = glass = drink = cocktail = MARGARITAS!
I rather like tequila, but I admit that overindulging in it ends badly – I’m sure everyone has a terrible tequila story! I won’t go into too many details about mine (you know the old drill about not posting anything on the internet that you wouldn’t want future employers to see!) but I’ll just tell you that it occurred on a university trip to America when I was 18. We went to Tijuana on our last night, and what I do remember is there was rather a lot of tequila. What I don’t remember is – well, mostly everything else, including crossing back over the border to the United States…
But that was a very long time ago. I’m much more sensible nowadays and have a much greater respect for my limits. Nowadays I’m so sensible that when I made the margaritas for these photos, I delayed drinking them until after I exercised because I knew that if I took a sip, I would be glued to the couch. Talk about grown up. Sheesh!
Now does anyone want to share their tequila story with me??

Haha, yes, what people don’t know about you doesn’t hurt them!
By the way, where did you blue salt from? Or was it coloured yourself?

I coloured it myself! A bit of food colouring and salt – voila! 🙂

Oooh, pretty blue blue salt! I don’t have any tequila stories, except that there might have been tequila involved in the rocket fuel I made from my parents’ alcohol cupboard in year nine. To be honest, it tasted so awful I can’t remember what was in it…

You don’t have a tequila story?!? That sounds like a challenge 😉

Oh, delicious! I love a good margarita. Mine tends to involve a bit more lime juice, though, because lime is delicious. 🙂

Limes *are* delicious! And margaritas are much more delicious with lime than lemon 😀

I always like margarita. Salt and sour all in a mouthful.. yum! I tend to stinge on the lime and add more tequila tho. Ahem.

Hehee, do you just wave the lime in the general direction of the tequila and call it a margarita? 😉

OMG that looks so good! I’ve never tried making my own margerita before and tequila is one of my favourite liquors ever! 🙂 I have no bad tequila stories but perhaps I haven’t tried pushing my limit before. Lemme get back to you on that!
I adore the blue salt too, simply gorgeous!

Beautiful! I’ve recently started liking margaritas too… must buy some tequila and triple sec!
I’ve been making mojitos a lot at home lately, hehehe. So glad the weather is getting warmer… it is totally cocktail weather!!

Ooooh yes, margaritas!! I had lots of delicious ones in Bali in July – free for 2 hours at our hotel every day! Frozen ones too 😀
I think I’m the only person in the world who doesn’t have a bad tequila story. Or a bad black sambucca story. I am fine with this state of affairs.

No tequila story for you either, Conor? Even with all the free ones in Bali? How can this be possible? 😉

I LOVE it – margaritas are always a welcome addition to any meal!
I dont have any really bad tequilla stories… although my friends and I do enjoy taco bill nights purely for the giant margaritas! This also usually results in some bad dancing while wearing sombreros…
